At the Exoneree Network, we know first-hand the impact long-term incarceration has on not only the individual but on their family members as well.
That’s why the Exoneree Network held its third annual toy drive this past December, to make the holidays a little brighter for Boston-area children impacted by long-term incarceration and wrongful convictions. We partnered with YardTime for the second time on this initiative, an organization founded by Exoneree Network member Joseph Bennett, and we had a new partner join us this year, Hey Young World Inc.
“As a result of my incarceration, I couldn’t provide any Christmas gifts for my kids,” Joseph shared. “So once I was released, I made it a priority to give back to families of incarceration. Our initiative has become more successful each year, allowing more organizations to partner up.”
The collection efforts launched just after Thanksgiving, and on Saturday, December 22, 2025, we held a giveaway event at a local community center. All together, we were able to give gifts to 93 families for 222 children, ranging in age from infants to 17 years old.
“It was a beautiful time, and we hope it’s something that we can continue for many years,” says Exoneree Network Director Sean Ellis.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the toy drive, including the 25 volunteers who helped wrap and distribute gifts. We also wanted to say a special thanks to Jackie Curran, Sue Wilson, and the entire Massachusetts Court Reporter Association team for their massive efforts in organizing toy donations.
