Our History
Over twenty years of fighting for freedom
More than twenty years ago (2000), a small group of pro bono attorneys — from large and small firms, solo practices, public defense offices, law schools, and student clinics — came together around a shared belief: innocent people should never be left to navigate the criminal legal system alone. What began as a grassroots effort operating out of boxes in a Boston law office has grown into a thriving nonprofit organization focused on freedom and community care.
